It's Spring Service Time!

While winter may not be behind us yet, signs of spring are popping up all over! One of the best things about the transition out of winter is the chance to pull out the old boat and get it ready to run again. Spring service is an important part of owning your boat, especially if you didn't get a chance to winterize it in the fall. At Surdyke Yamaha, we have a specially trained crew who can get you boat up and running before the fish start biting so you'll be ready for the season. Here are a few ways we can help get your boat de-winterized at the Lake of the Ozarks.

De-Winterize The Engine

The engine is the heart of your boat, and you always want it to be in tip-top shape, and ready to run properly. We can change the oil for you, and get it cleaned up and ready to go. Checking and changing the oil (especially if you didn't have it done in the fall) can help protect against corrosion and excessive wear which can lead to a loss of power, poor fuel economy or engine failure. It's important to not miss this crucial step in maintaining your boat. The cooling system will also need to be flushed and replaced with new coolant. Finally, the battery will need to be checked and possibly replaced, and then we'll perform a thorough engine test. You can count on Surdyke Yamaha to provide the best boat service at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Inspect the Vinyl

After your boat has been winterized for several months, it's a good idea to thoroughly look over the vinyl and make sure there aren't any surprise tears. When it gets cold, mice and other critter love to find a warm place to hunker down for the winter, and unfortunately, your boat could have been their haven. Repair and rips or tears, and then clean everything with the appropriate cleaner.

Inspect the Hull

Hull inspection is extremely important when you are preparing your boat for summer. Chalk textures, bubbles, chips or cracks are all signs that something bigger could be happening and need to be looked at by a professional. We can help you determine if the hull is ready to set sail or not.

Final Details

We'll check the windshield wipers to make sure that they are in proper working order before you head out. Some marine environments can be very rough on this part of your boat, and it's important to keep them working. We can also help you test and replace any and all electronic equipment that may be malfunctioning.
