FREE Wakesurfing Lessons!

Wakesurfing is an ever popular sport enjoyed by people who live around water, especially at the Lake of the Ozarks! Getting out in that water and feeling the breeze on your face as you fly across the top of the water is a refreshing feeling that you won't want to miss.  At Surdyke Yamaha, we love to help people get out on the water and learn new tricks, hobbies and more. Here are a few things you may not have known about wakesurfing, as well as how you can get FREE lessons!

  • A trained surfer can hold his breath for about four minutes while the static apnea record holder does it for more than 11 minutes.
  • Surfers only spend 8% of the time riding waves.
  • The highest tides in the world can be found in Canada, at the Bay of Fundy. Sometimes the difference between high and low tide is 16.3 meters (53.5 feet).

What is Wakesurfing?

The best thing about wakesurfing is that you don't have to go travel to a coast to catch the waves - you just create your own! It's a relatively new water sport, and kind of an offshoot of wakeboarding. Because it can be easy or challenging, novices and seasoned water-sport athletes are all enjoying this great sport. There are already World Wakesurfing Championships and many other professional-level competitions for this sport.

To wakesurf, you'll be trailing behind a motorboat on a short surfboard. The wakesurf boards are generally only five feet long. The beauty of the sport is that you'll be surfing in the wake of the boat, and you don't have to count on the water to create a surf for you. The boat will be freighted with extra weight to increase the amount of wake, which can make the sport more challenging.

Wake/Surf Boats

Because we have the best selection of wake boats at the Lake of the Ozarks, we obviously want to share them with you! Check out these two beauties that would work perfectly for your summer activities!

2016 Centurion Enzo FS44 - Surdyke Yamaha

The Centurion Enzo FS44 is the boat of choice for professional wake surfing athletes like Keenan Flegel. The largest in accommodations and waves in the Centurion line, the 2016 FS44 offers room for 16 along with waves that can extend overhead in a bottom turn. The FS44 is designed and built as a World Wake Surfing Champion’s towboat creating longest, hardest, most powerful waves available. The Centurion Enzo FS44 is a World Championship Towboat, relentlessly innovated.

2015 Centurion Enzo SV233 - Surdyke Yamaha

New features include the Maximus Tower, Centurion Downfire audio system with LEDs, flip-up stadium seating and so much more! The now standard RAMFILL ballast system provides you with the largest capacity tanks with the quickest filling system possible. No gimmicky surf-system, this is pure displacement and the SV233 is one of the most versatile wake boats with clean, professional wakes coupled with a World Wake Surfing Championship wave on both sides of the boat.

Pre-Owned Spotlight - 2007 Four Winns 224 Funship Deckboat

When they said "Less is More," they were describing the Four Winns Funship 224 all the way! It is all about more being more. More beam, more seating, more swim ladders, more storage, and, in short, more boat for your buck! Ultimately, more fun in the summer sun, which is just what we like to hear! At Surdyke Yamaha, we have an awesome selection of pre-owned boats at the Lake of the Ozarks and our primary goal is to get you out on the water and keep you there! Here are even more fun details about this Four Winns 224.

2007 Four Winns 224 Funship Deckboat

The 224 is the second smallest Funship in the four-model range from the big American, Four Winns, which is one of the leading brands of multinational Genmar Holdings. As such, it's a boat for the masses and, at almost 24 feet overall, it aims to please a crowd. The 224's beam is the maximum for your trailer. It measures 8'6" but it's the way the beam is carried so far forward that identifies this as more of a deckboat or pontoon-orientated craft than a point-and-shoot performer.

This boat is in excellent condition with only 85 hours! 5.0L Volvo GXI/DP engine, custom cover, bimini top and swing tongue trailer.

Need we tell you that in America, deckboats are popular platforms from which to stage watersports on big lakes. Pick your days, pack the family aboard, load lunch and the water toys, and you're set for some fun running.

6 Easy Steps to De-Winterizing Your Motorcycle

The Midwest has been giving us beautiful weather! When the weather gets good, there's only one thing left - get the bike out of the garage and enjoy it. At Surdyke Yamaha, we can not only provide you with the best motorcycles at the Lake of the Ozarks but with exceptional service as well. When you don't know what to do about a strange sound or sticky gears, we can help you find the reason and get back on the road. Here are a few things to remember as you start to pull your bike out and get it ready for the road.

Recharge Your Battery

If part of your winterization process was to take the battery off and store it separately, it's time to bring it out. Wipe off any dust that may have collected over the months, clean off the connectors, and reinstall the battery. If you used a battery tender, you'll want to wipe off the grease on each terminal/connector, and if necessary, top it off with distilled water.

Examine the Tires

Take a look at your tires, and be sure that they are filled to the appropriate level. If you stored it on the floor of your garage, you'll also want to check the tread and make sure that the floor didn't disfigure them.

Check the Lights

Take a peek at your headlights, brake lights, and tail lights. You'll want to make sure these are all in working order before getting out on the road - especially at night. If you need the bulbs replaced, don't forget to give us a call. We can help you with all maintenance needs, big or small.

Check the Fluids

If you didn't change the oil at the beginning of the winter, it's important to do so now. You won't want to take your bike out on old dirty oil. If you did change it, just make sure that it's topped off.

Check brake fluids as well, and add more if they are low. The brake fluid should be drained and replaced every one to two years, and if you don't remember the last time you did it, now is a great time to take care of it.

Give Everything A Look Over

Check your bike to make sure that there are no critters or rodents who have taken up inhabitance in your bike. It may have become their winter home, but you'll want to make sure they don't stay there when you ride. If you covered the exhausts and air intake when you winterized your bike, you'll want to inspect everything thoroughly to make sure that nothing got left in by accident when you uncovered them.

Allow the Engine to Run

Finally, before taking it out for a spin, let the engine run for a bit to warm it up. This will allow you to listen to it and make sure that everything is operating as it should. If you have any concerns, bring it in for motorcycle maintenance at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Best Bikes at the Lake of the Ozarks

Surdyke Yamaha is proud to keep you out on the road riding the trails, and chasing the sunset for as long as you want. We stock the best motorcycles at the Lake of the Ozarks, and we'll be here for you from beginning to end. Come out and take a look at the bikes we have in our showroom if you don't have one of your own!
