DID YOU KNOW...
- A trained surfer can hold his breath for about four minutes while the static apnea record holder does it for more than 11 minutes.
- Surfers only spend 8% of the time riding waves.
- The highest tides in the world can be found in Canada, at the Bay of Fundy. Sometimes the difference between high and low tide is 16.3 meters (53.5 feet).
What is Wakesurfing?
The best thing about wakesurfing is that you don't have to go travel to a coast to catch the waves - you just create your own! It's a relatively new water sport, and kind of an offshoot of wakeboarding. Because it can be easy or challenging, novices and seasoned water-sport athletes are all enjoying this great sport. There are already World Wakesurfing Championships and many other professional-level competitions for this sport.
To wakesurf, you'll be trailing behind a motorboat on a short surfboard. The wakesurf boards are generally only five feet long. The beauty of the sport is that you'll be surfing in the wake of the boat, and you don't have to count on the water to create a surf for you. The boat will be freighted with extra weight to increase the amount of wake, which can make the sport more challenging.
Because we have the best selection of wake boats at the Lake of the Ozarks, we obviously want to share them with you! Check out these two beauties that would work perfectly for your summer activities!
