What Else Do You Need When You Purchase A Boat?
You've done all the research and it's time to make the big purchase! When you buy your new boat at the Lake of the Ozarks, you may be anxious to get it out onto the water. However, before you do so, there are a few things you need to have in order to have a fun, safe and enjoyable time out on the Lake. We have the best new and used boats at the Lake of the Ozarks to choose from, and we want to make sure you're properly prepared before heading out. To help you out, we've included a few items you should include while purchasing your new boat.
Safety Gear
From life jackets to a fire extinguisher, it's important to make sure you have all the right equipment on your watercraft in case of an emergency. These items can include:
- Life jackets (one for each passenger on board)
- Throwable PFD
- A fire extinguisher
- Air horn
- Flares
- First aid kit
Cover
A cover for your boat isn't necessarily required, but it's an item you will not one to skip. Whether you store your boat out of the water or in a dock, you will want a cover to protect it. When making a large investment, it's always worth it to invest just a little bit more in protecting your watercraft from damage, dirt and weather.
Trailer
If you have the option to get a trailer when purchasing your watercraft always take it. While a trailer may seem optional to some, it really is necessary. Even if you're docking your boat, you will likely need to move it at some point. You don't want to be in a pinch for a trailer when that time comes to move it.
Ropes
When purchasing a boat, there are a couple ropes you should consider adding on to your purchase, including towing ropes and mooring ropes. Towing ropes will come in handy if your boat ever runs out of gas, or worse breaks down, while on the water. These types of ropes will allow you to hook your boat up to another boat and be towed to a fueling station or out of the water. Mooring ropes are the type of ropes used for docking your boat. You want it to be thick enough to ensure your boat will stay tied to the dock. Our sales team will be more than happy to show you the best ropes to use for your boat.
Buoys
Buoys are a must when you're at the dock. They will protect your watercraft from getting damaged. Even when you're tied to the dock, your boat can still move and bump up against the dock, make sure it doesn't get damaged and secure a buoy to the side of your watercraft. Even if your boat is on a lift in your own dock, it's still important to have these on board for when you tie up at your favorite waterfront restaurant.
